JOHN SHANNON
John was born in Brasilia, Brazil, the son of American diplomats, and was raised in South Africa, Venezuela, and Washington, D.C. His experiences in Latin America and Africa, his interest in Brazilian Modernism, and his work as a licensed General Contractor in California and Minnesota, have fueled his interest in design and architecture.
After completing his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., John moved to San Francisco, where he studied industrial design and art at the San Francisco Academy of Art University. John then moved to San Diego, where he received his Master of Architecture degree from Woodbury University. During this period, John also worked at a premier architecture firm in New York City, and studied architecture in Rome and Barcelona.
The founder of HyR Building LLC, John has a passion for sustainable design and construction methods. He is constantly researching and educating himself in the areas of building science and design.
John is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
TALYSSA D'AVILA
Talyssa is a first generation American-Brazilian who was raised in San Diego, California., where she was an award-winning competitive swimmer and dancer. She received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Woodbury University in San Diego. She is also a licensed realtor in the states of California and Minnesota.
Talyssa’s experience and skill in design, construction, real estate investing, and home renovation allow her to fashion strategies for clients that add value to their homes, enhancing their salability, while making them beautiful and comfortable places to live.
Talyssa’s Brazilian flair and active lifestyle inform all aspects of her work. Working together with her husband, John Shannon, she can help clients find modern, successful solutions to the challenges facing homeowners, home buyers, and investors.
She is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
